So in Episode 7 of LoK, we get a really good look at Tenzin airbending:

And Tenzin looks totally badass while doing it. But something looked strange to me, and I couldn’t figure it out for the longest time. But I think I finally thought of two different reasons as to what’s been bugging me.

1) Correct me if I’m wrong, but we rarely saw Aang use airbending as a direct offense, and even when he did, he always used his staff:

I found a rare instance of him using airbending without his staff (he wasn’t even attacking anyone, this .gif is from the Sozin’s Comet movie when he’s testing to see whether he’s in the Spirit World or not):

2) I’m so used to seeing a little kid like Aang airbend, it’s so strange to see such a tall and lanky man use it! I guess Tenzin’s long arms flailing about was sorta weird to me.

But then we got to see Tenzin’s awesome air wheel. (That’s what I’ve been calling it, I don’t know if the fandom has come up with something cooler-sounding than a “hamster wheel”.) All is right with the world, because that air wheel was AWESOME.

My question is: when will Korra finally airbend?

So she can FINALLY do this:
